New Faction List

 I changed the faction list.

The new one is as follow:

  • Gondor
  • Rohan
  • Mordor
  • Isengard
  • Harad
  • Rhûn
  • High Elves
  • Silvan Elves
  • Orcs of the Mountains
  • Dwarves
  • Free men of Middle-earth

After consideration hobbits won’t have a faction because I can’t imagine them conquering whole Middle Earth.

I’m trying to do at least two units a day so I could get over 60 units a month. I will release the playable version as soon as I finish basic unit roosters and then update it with patches, so others could enjoy playing while I will still work on upgrading the mod even further :3

In future I will try to build fortresses like Minas Tirith or Helm’s Deep, but I don’t promise cause I yet don’t know the engine limitations here in Medieval II.

  1. Lindon, Lothlórien, and Mirkwood for elven factions.
    as for the hobbots good choice but it might be interesting to have them as mercenaries (weak though) and have rebel hobbits on the shire and surroudings.
    when you spoke in fortresses like Helm’s Deep are you refering to the campaign map or the battle map?

  2. Both battle map (maybe only for historical battles, but still) and campaign map. Don’t expect them too soon, though.

    I won’t divide Lorien and Rivendell cause Elrond and Galadriel worked together, according to TTT movie, and I don’t see them fighting with each other.

    Mirkwood however hasn’t got relations with Noldor, and will have more skirmish-based warfare (scounts and rangers) than heavly armoured Noldor.

  4. No. In campaign player will have full freedom. But I will add several historical battles, like Pellenor Fields, for sure.

  5. ok then when I proposed Lorien and Rivendell to be different factions, maybe I was wrong because they are like clones of one another, isn’t that right?

  6. No but they are similar and allied. Two elven factions is fair enaugh for me and I won’t change it.

  8. first of all i agree not to place hobbits as a faction but i think the free men of middleearth should be able to trian them as i think they ra ein the area of bree and shire and their elite units could be the dunedains but for rivendell and lotlorien wouldnt fit youy know why because all elves are expert archers noldor(rivendell)has more heavy troops but galadrihm(lorien)are experts at hiding and ambushing and are exellent light infantry and in between these theres the misty mountains its a giant wall separating each other and in the movies rivendell and lorien didnt fight together but elrond only chatted with galadriel abou the war the elves that came to aid helms deep where from lorien only and if you dont want them to fight each other then make them unbreakable allys so a script syas they never attack each other(unless you are the player and you want some freedom to it about the faction list i had some ideas too i thinki suggested more factions check my other posts

  9. I agree on dividing lorien and rivendell , they are not under same leadership , thier tropps tactics arent same so is their units

    Actually this mods modder knows the LOTR mod for Alexander (RTW) , i guess you should knwo teh big diffrence that mode made about those two elven factions

    1) Is Rhun / harad going to be like easterlings or southerings , cant get an visula in my head right now >< ?

    2) Wheres Dunlandens the Wild hill men ?

    3) Hobbits going to be in free people faction?

    4) Maybe an Umber faction , go pirates XD

  15. I think you’re spot on regardng not having the hoobits being a faction. I also cannot see them wresting liberty from the free-peoples of Middle-earth. Iw ould suggest though that they remain a bunch of ‘rebel afactions. I use the term ‘rebel’ loosely. Like a disorganised collection of towns and small cities which keeps itself to itself. I would also say that anyone who takes contorl of these towns and recruit halfling archers from these cities, or these cities only. Don’t forget, thesse little guys beat a bit of sense into Saruman’s lackies after the War of the Ring, and many of them where archers. They killed Wormtongue with about six arrows as I recall (memory is hazy though!)

    It’d be nice to be an orc faction and have something like the Shire in. A near defenceless county waiting for an urk-butchering. It would add a slice of typical orcy nastiness. Anyone playing good factions can, if they wish, simply leave the Shire to itself, and that if they send a general there, it may be that they are able to recruit halfling archer mercenaries, but thats as far as it goes. You can’t have Middle-earth and not have hobbits.

    PS: I’ve not read much here yet – only recently discovered this ingenius project so fairly ignorant of most posts as of yet. But someone please confirm to me that trolls can only be used in night attacks? Also, I think orcs and most nasties should get morale / command bonuses when night fighting and it should even be their DEFAULT BATTLE time of day. Orcs always fight at night on their terms, the good folk fight at day on their terms. If someone wins several battles fighting on the wrong time of day, then perhaps they can still get the ol’ nightfgighter traits.

  16. Im my Opinion the Hobbits should be integrated in the game as mercenary soldiers, able to be hired by any other faction in certain regions.Or as alredy mentioned, rebels.

    Two or three different kinds of units should be enough.

  17. I just found out about this today. I think this is a great idea how did u do it and when will it come out? I think that the idea of hobbit mercenaries is good but it would not be right if the orcs could hire hobbits to fight for them i like the idea of them being on he free men of middle earth’s team.

  18. this is badass i dont know who this other team is but i suggest that you recruit them. not the other way around because these units are the best ive seen. good choice on the hobbits. will elves be riddiculous archers/warriors? if so balance that out with low populations please. i like the orcs and mountain trolls only fighting at night (mountain trolls turn to stone in the sun, only sourons trolls are bred to withstand daylight) orcs just get weak kneed during the day experience should steady them up though. are units going to be very exclusive to their region? like tower gaurd only from minas tirith etc… i hope so. o yea instead of plagues elves should go to the gray havens and leave middle earth when population gets pissed. i always was interested in the men of harad and rhun how i depth will they be? i didnt understand what you where saying about the famous fortesses of Helms deep and Minas tirith will they be there in the campaign? (in minas tiriths case with all seven levels and trebuchets?) what is the actual scale of units going to be because mordor had vast armies while most good folk where dwindling. generals… will mordor’s armies be lead by the nazgul? i wish you would rethink about putting in Gandalf and other heros of the age he doesnt need magic powers but he would inspire all the men fighting for him to counter the nazgul who would terrorize enemy units. im just geeking out but if you can please address this stuff? o yea and if a nazgul gets unhorsed depending on how far from Baraddur he is it should take that long to be respawned… (sigh) im a nerd and a half if you didnt guess. how will the sounds be to will it be actual soundtrack and stuff? i think it would be awesome to be able to have your entire army of uruks chanting, or the rohirrim screaming death as they charge, or elves singing as they march!

  19. Hey, why dont you have the Hobbits as a non-playable faction which could be passive? i dont mean they wont fight i mean they dont take over areas they just stay in the borders and only defend them when they have to?

  21. you could also add factions from the book the silmarillion (eg: noldor, morgoth,…) this is a challenge i know, but on the things you achieved so far; ETERNAL RESPECT!!!
